Many Indian fans would remember Sam Billings for his match-winning fifty in Chennai Super Kings’ first home match of IPL 2018. Returning to IPL after a two-year suspension, CSK faced former two-time Kolkata Knight Riders at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
A blitzkrieg from Andre Russell helped KKR set a big target for the home team, but a match-winning fifty from Billings ensured that the fans in Chennai returned home happy. While Billings is no longer a part of the CSK franchise, he shares a special bonding with the team.
“I absolutely loved my two years at CSK,” Billings told Cricbuzz. “The success in which the environment has had consistently over the time is unmatched really, probably only Mumbai have kind of been as consistent as CSK. To get a winners medal of the IPL is something that I really cherished.“
