IPL 2024 Auction happened last night in Dubai, with the 10 franchises filling up the vacant positions in their squads by signing new players. Five-time champions Mumbai Indians did not have the biggest auction purse, but they used the funds smartly to acquire the best players possible.
MI fans are angry with the franchise because of the way they sacked Rohit Sharma and named Hardik Pandya as the new captain. Overall, MI have a decent squad on paper for IPL 2024, and here’s a look at their strongest possible playing XI.
Openers of MI after IPL 2024 Auction – Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan (wk)
The right hand-left hand combo of Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan should continue opening the innings for the Mumbai Indians. Both batters have been match-winners for the Mumbai Indians in the last few seasons, and they should continue doing an excellent job for the Mumbai-based franchise.
Middle Order – Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya (c), Tilak Varma, Nehal Wadhera, Tim David and Mohammad Nabi
Mumbai Indians have a solid group of Indian batters in the middle-order. Last season’s top performers Tilak Varma and Nehal Wadhera will form the core of the team along with Mr. 360 Suryakumar Yadav and captain Hardik Pandya.
Australia’s hard-hitting batter Tim David will play the finisher’s role alongside veteran all-rounder Mohammad Nabi. MI do not have too many quality spinners. Hence, Nabi may feature in all games.
Bowlers – Piyush Chawla, Gerald Coetzee, Akash Madhwal and Jasprit Bumrah (Impact Player)
Piyush Chawla will lead the spin attack of the Mumbai Indians again. The veteran leg-spinner did a phenomenal job last season.
The pace attack will feature the returning Jasprit Bumrah along with rising stars Gerald Coetzee and Akash Madhwal, who have performed well in the recent past. MI also have great backups like Dilshan Madushanka and Nuwan Thushara for Coetzee.
