Scheduled for December 13 in Lahore, the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 Players Draft anticipates an impressive participation of 485 international players from 22 countries, each eager to exhibit their cricketing prowess in one of the most esteemed cricket leagues.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) revealed that 46 players have entered the prestigious Platinum category, while 76 have thrown their names into the Diamond category.
Among the stellar lineup of players set to grace the Pakistan Super League next year, notable figures include England’s Dawid Malan and South Africa’s Reeza Hendricks, both holding positions in the top 10 of the ICC Men’s T20I batter rankings.
Beyond the batting lineup, the draft will also feature some of the world’s finest T20I bowlers. This elite list encompasses talents like Sri Lanka’s Maheesh Theekshana, Afghanistan’s Fazalhaq Farooqi and Mujeeb Ur Rahman, as well as Akeal Hosein from the West Indies—all of whom boast positions within the top 10 T20I bowlers.
The six franchises participating in the draft will have the task of selecting their preferred players from the Diamond and Platinum categories, with Platinum being the pinnacle category followed by Diamond.
The subsequent Gold, Silver, Emerging, and Supplementary categories primarily involve Pakistani domestic and young cricketers, adding a layer of diversity to the selection process. As the anticipation builds, the PSL 2024 Players Draft promises to be a pivotal event in shaping the composition of teams for the upcoming season.
