In a disappointing development for fans of Rahul Tripathi, the uncapped Indian batter was ignored for the upcoming T20I series against the South African cricket team. Tripathi has been one of the most consistent performers in the Indian Premier League. He has piled on heaps of runs for his franchises at a decent strike rate in different roles. However, the Indian selectors did not pick him in the squad.
Earlier today, BCCI announced the Indian squad for the five-match T20I series against the South African cricket team, which is scheduled to start from June 9 onwards. The likes of Ishan Kishan, Venkatesh Iyer and Ruturaj Gaikwad have retained their places in the T20I squad, but Rahul Tripathi failed to find a place.

Along with Rahul Tripathi, fans also were surprised to see the likes of Shikhar Dhawan, Ravichandran Ashwin and Sanju Samson missing from the squad despite performing well in the ongoing IPL season.

What makes Rahul Tripathi's exclusion worse is the fact that he is not inconsistent either. He averages 31.6 and strikes at 150.19 in the IPL since 2021.
