8.Rajasthan Royals – 452.94 Crores

The Rajasthan Royals won the first season of IPL. Shane Warne led the team to perfection as he transformed a few rookies into a group of match-winners.

The Jaipur-based franchise has spent a lot in recent auctions. Still, they stand at the last position on this list, having spent 452.94 Crores at the auction.

7.Sunrisers Hyderabad – 477.87 Crores

Although they joined IPL in 2013, the Sunrisers Hyderabad rank above the Rajasthan Royals on this list. The Orange Army has splurged 477.87 Crores at the auction.

David Warner is their most valuable player as he has guided them to their only IPL title. SRH finished third behind Mumbai and Delhi in IPL 2020.

6.Chennai Super Kings – 591.98 Crores

3-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings have paid almost 600 Crores to their players. MS Dhoni has the most expensive contract in the team.

The Chennai-based franchise made it to playoffs in ten consecutive seasons they played. However, they ended at the seventh position in IPL 2020.

5.Kings XI Punjab – 627.56 Crores

The Kings XI Punjab always backed the youngsters in the initial few seasons. However, they have changed their strategy since the 2018 season.

Mukesh Ambani owns the Mumbai Indians franchises in the IPL. They are the most successful franchise in the history of the competition, with five title wins.

The Mumbai Indians surprisingly are at the second position on this list, with 713.43 crores. Their scouting team has helped them unearth many new talents over the years.

1.Royal Challengers Bangalore – 738 Crores

Standing at the number one position on this list are the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Although they have not won the IPL, RCB have spent the most money at the auction.

Virat Kohli has the most expensive IPL contract of all time. RCB pay him 17 crores per season, while their total spending in 13 years amounts to 738 Crores.
