The 2022 edition of the Women’s T20 Challenge is underway right now in Maharashtra, and in the second match of the tournament, Velocity are battling the Supernovas. The first game happened yesterday, where the Supernovas registered a clinical win against the Trailblazers. In today’s match, the bowling action of leg-spinner Maya Sonawane has become a talking point in the cricketing circles.
Speaking of the match between Velocity and Supernovas, Velocity won the toss and decided to bowl first in Pune. The conditions looked good for batting as Supernovas captain Harmanpreet Kaur scored a half-century and inspired her team to a score of 150 runs in the first innings.
In a chat with the host broadcasters after the completion of the first innings, Harmanpreet Kaur said:
“In the day game, it is always a bit tough. Initially, we threw some wickets away, so Taniya and I decided that we needed to build a partnership. We always look at areas we want to improve but that doesn’t happen always in the game. I’m happy with the score we’ve put up.”
Talking about Maya Sonawane, the 23-year-old from Maharashtra bowled the 10th and 12th overs of the Supernovas innings. It was tough to pick her initially, but in her second over, Harmanpreet Kaur hit a four and six off her bowling.
