Mumbai Indians (MI) beat Delhi Capitals (DC) by 5 wickets in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 match number 69 on Saturday. After this defeat for Delhi Capitals, they are out of the tournament and as a result, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have reached the playoffs.
The scenes of joy at the Bangalore camp was something to witness after Mumbai Indians got the better of the Rishabh Pant led side. In fact, for RCB to reach the playoffs, they needed Mumbai Indians to beat Delhi Capitals.
On the other hand, if Delhi Capitals had won, they would have directly qualified for the playoffs and Faf du Plessis led RCB would have been eliminated. This was the reason that Royal Challengers Bangalore supported Mumbai Indians fiercely throughout the match.
Playing first after losing the toss at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, Delhi Capitals scored 159/7 runs in their 20 overs, in response to which Mumbai Indians won by in the last over by five wickets. Dewald Brevis scored 37 off 33 balls and Tim David scored 34 runs in 11 balls to give his team the victory. Due to the defeat, Delhi Capitals finished fifth in the points table and were knocked out of the tournament.
