SA20 League 2024 edition prize money revealed

With the first match of the South Africa T20 cricket league, the SA20 League, is now just a couple of hours away, the Cricket South Africa (CSA) and the SA20 have announced the prize money for the SA20 2024 edition.

SA20 remains the premier prize in South African cricket, boasting a total prize pool of R70 million (INR 31.15 crore approx) for Season 2. The champions, to be crowned at Newlands on February 10, stand to claim a substantial R34 million (INR 15.13 crore approx).

Runners-up will secure R16.25 million (INR 7.23 crore approx), while the third and fourth-placed teams will receive R8.9 million (INR 3.96 crore approx) and R7.85 million (INR 3.47 crore approx) respectively. The fifth and sixth positions will also be rewarded with R2.5 million (INR 1.1 crore approx) and R2.0 million (INR 89 lakh approx) each.

Following the success of the inaugural SA20, where spectators flocked to all six venues, Season 1’s Player of the Season, Aiden Markram, received R350,000 in prize money. Season 2 continues this trend with R350,000 for the Player of the Season, R200,000 each for the Batter and Bowler of the Season (won by Jos Buttler and Roelof van der Merwe in Season 1), and a new category, the “Rookie,” intensifying the battle for the Rising Star of the Season with a prize of R100,000.

Eathan Bosch, the all-rounder from Pretoria Capitals, holds the Rookie title from Season 1.

The action kicks off on January 10 at St George’s Park with defending champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape taking on Joburg Super Kings.
