Lankan Premier League is the latest T20 competition that has been offered to the fans of the game. Conducted by the Sri Lankan Cricket Board, LPL follows the same format as IPL. The four-foreigner rule is existent over there as well.

That said, not all overseas players were too interested in this league. Money is one factor, and after IPL, yet another T20 league could put pressure on their work-load. Nonetheless, the first edition of LPL is host to a few cricketers who were part of IPL that was held in Dubai.

Andre Russell – USD 50,000 (Colombo Kings)

The West Indian powerhouse is one of the main attractions in LPL. He plays for Colombo Kings, the franchise based out of the Sri Lankan capital city. The big-hitting all-rounder struggled with injuries and form in IPL, and maybe, to get himself back to his best, Russell could have signed up to play in LPL. His payment is USD 50,000, which almost amounts to around INR 37 lakhs. On the other hand, KKR had Russell on their payroll for INR 8.5 crores.

Dale Steyn – USD 50,000 (Kandy Tuskers)

Dale Steyn was a late addition to the Kandy Tuskers team in LPL. He signed a contract worth USD 40,000 with the franchise. This translates roughly to around INR 30 lakhs. In IPL, he was being paid INR 2 crores by Royal Challengers Bangalore. Talking about his current form, it is clear that Steyn is in the final stages of his career. His bowling lacks intensity, an element that it was known for. While he was made to warm the bench in IPL 2020, Steyn has also lost out on a spot in the National Team.

Isuru Udana – USD 40,000 (Colombo Kings)

In IPL 2020, Isuru Udana was the only representation from Sri Lanka. For the past few years, Isuru has also been one of the better performers in the T20 format for his team. Hence, naturally, his stakes were set high when the Lankan Premier League was announced. Isuru plays for Colombo Kings, and like Dale Steyn, he also earns USD 40,000. At RCB, the all-rounder was being paid an amount of INR 50 lakhs.
