Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is just 2 steps away from getting their hands on that elusive Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 Trophy, as they are set to take on Rajasthan Royals in the Qualifier 2, winner of which will face Gujarat Titans in the final of the IPL 2022. Meanwhile, Shane Watson has named the most standout player for them.
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is one of those founding members of the Indian Premier League (IPL), playing in the competition since its inception in the year 2008, however, yet to win the Trophy once.
They came closest in the year 2016, but once again luck was not in their favour as Sunrisers Hyderabad beat them to win their first ever IPL Trophy, David Warner staring for them that season.
RCB reached the eliminator last year in the IPL 2021 and was eliminated by the Kolkata Knight Riders, while captain Virat Kohli decided to step down from his role. They brought in the services of Faf du Plessis to replace Kohli as captain.
They had a pretty good season. There were contribution from all around for the Bangalore based side. They finished 4th in the IPL 2022 Points Table after end of the league phase. They beat the Lucknow Super Giants in the eliminator to qualify for the Qualifier 2.
Meanwhile, a former RCB cricketer Shane Watson named the most standout performer for them this season. While speaking on the Grade Cricketer Podcast, Watson said that Dinesh Karthik is RCB’s most standout performer in IPL 2022.
Talking about Dinesh Karthik, after his stunning performance in the IPL 2022, playing the role of a finisher, the Indian selectors have called him for the upcoming T20I series against South Africa, slated to start from 9th June.
