RPSG Group and CVC Capital to be the new owners

RPSG Group and CVC Capital have won the bid to own the two new franchises from IPL 2022. While RPSG Group made a bid of over INR 7000 crores, the equity firm CVC Capital has reportedly bid over INR 5000 crores. The Sanjiv Goenka-led company will have the franchise in Lucknow, and CVC Capital will own the Ahmedabad franchise. Incidentally, in 2016 and 2017, the RPSG group had owned the Rising Pune Supergiants IPL franchise.

Potential names for the two new franchises

Whenever a new team enters the competition, before the squad gets picked, it is the name of the franchise and the kit colour that draws attention. For the owners, it is an important decision. Having made such a big investment, the brand of the franchise is important and one of the first steps in setting it right is to have a good name.
