Team India started well on Day 1 of the South Africa Tour on Boxing Day. After a good partnership of 117 between KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal, Lungi Ngidi broke the stand by getting Mayank LBW. However, many felt that the decision to send back Mayank did not look fair. In this article, we take a look at how Twitter reacted as Mayank Agarwal’s DRS review fails to save him in the first innings of the series opener in South Africa.
Mayank Agarwal’s DRS review fails to save him
When the score was 117 and Mayank was batting at 60, Lungi Ngidi had the player caught LBW. On review, it was checked that the ball was clipping the top of the stumps. The Umpire’s Call was not taken into consideration and Mayank had to walk back. He was visibly upset with the decision. The kind of form that he looked in, a big knock was a possibility for the opener.
Twitter reacts to the decision
The Indian fans did not approve of the way in which the situation was handled. Firstly, many felt that the DRS graphic did not look accurate. A few users believed that the ball was going on without disturbing the stump. A couple of them even argued that Mayank was jumping when he was hit on his pads. Hence, they arrived at the conclusion that he had to be given not out. Below, we take a look at a few more reactions in this regard:

The DRS editing on Mayank’s wicket was definitely done by a 90s Indian wedding videographer. So authentic. #IndvSA

#INDvsSA Can someone tamper Hawkeye in DRS? There is no way that Mayank Agarwal was LBW, the line of the ball was missing for sure, no wonder it took so long as some IT guy did something in background?

Where was the DRS graphic @ Supersport?! Don't tell me it wasn't an umpire's call on height, totally feels like a screwjob man I feel for Mayank Agarwal.

Should have been umpires call on that Mayank dismissal…kinda seemed too high…he was jumping too…Strange it too so long to show DRS

Mayank was declared out Y'day

Harris is declared 'not out' Today
Evidence was inconclusive in both the cases IMO.
Both decisions went in favour of Home side. #DRS #Ashes
