The Australian cricket team and the England cricket team are currently playing the 2nd match of the ongoing Ashes 2021-2022 series and Australia now just a wicket away from winning the match (as of writing this article).

England were already in deep trouble going into the 5th Day’s play as they were already 4 wickets down in the 2nd inning at the end of the Day 4’s play in chase of Australia’s set target of 468 runs.

England needed a miracle to save the match. Obviously the ultimate aim was to somehow get a draw as the win was not a possibility. And to add more misery to England’s inning, Australian bowlers are at the best form of their life, especially Mitchell Starc, who has looked dangerous with that pink ball.

But, there was a savior for England in the form of Jos Buttler. Buttler, who is known for his aggressive and class batting, played the most slowest inning of all.

Jos Buttler faced 207 balls in England’s 2nd inning and only scored 26 runs, which only includes 2 fours. He had great company of Chris Woakes, Ollie Robinson, Stuart Broad, and suddenly, a draw was possible for England.

But the bad luck hit England as Buttler fell pray to his own batting as he got out via ‘hit-wicket’. Butter played a backfoot drive of a short ball from Jhye Richardson, but unfortunately in doing so, Buttler’s feet hot the wickets and bells were off.

After which, Australia needed one more wicket to win the match and Jhye Richardson dismissed James Anderson to seal the match for the Aussies. Australia now leads the Ashes 2-0.

Fans let out their feeling for Buttler through Twitter as they praised Buttler’s performance and the resilience that he showed.
