Twitter went mad when former Sri Lanka international and legendary spin bowler showcased his talent with the bat when he smashed a big Six of his first ball of the inning during the Legends League Cricket Grand Final.
Legends League Cricket tournament is giving another opportunity to retired legendary cricketers to showcase their talent once again to the newer generation.
More than 50 plus former International cricketers and legends from around the world are taking part in the competition, including India, Asia and the rest of the world.
And one such player is Sri Lanka‘s legendary cricketer and spin bowler Muttiah Muralitharan. The bowler is the highest wicket-taker in the history of the game, with 800 Test wickets and more than 500 One Day cricket wickets to his name.
But, the Sri Lankan star showcased his different colour when the Asia Lions and World Giants faced off in the final match of the Legends League Cricket 2022.
Chasing a huge target of 257 runs, Asia Lions were already out of the running for winning the match. Muttiah Muralitharan entered the pitch with 2 balls to go and blasted Kevin Pietersen for a huge Six off his first ball, seeing which, even Pietersen couldn’t resist but clap and admire Muralitharan.
Talking of the match, it was a T20 classic. World Giants put up 256 runs on the board with brilliant hard-hitting batting display from the lineup, especially Corey Anderson, who scored 94 runs of 43 balls, which included 7 Fours and 8 Sixes.
Chasing the target of 257 runs, Asia Lions fought hard, but the target was out of reach. They scored 231 runs, falling short by 25 runs. There was contribution all around the lineup, but a big knock was missing. Thus, World Giants were crowned the champions of an interesting tournament.
