The non-striker end run out once again caused a huge ripple in the cricketing world, in this time in a big match like India vs Sri Lanka when India pacer Mohammed Shami had run out Sri Lankan captain Dasun Shanaka on the non-striker end when he was batting on 98 runs. But then, India captain Rohit withdrew the appeal.

After the winning the T20I series 2-1 earlier this month, the 1st match of the 3 match ODI series was played on the 10th January at the Barsapara stadium in Guwahati.

Batting first, the Indian team piled-up a huge total on the board. Both openers Rohit Sharma (83 runs) and Shubman Gill (70 runs) gave Team India a strong start to the match. There were some small but crucial contribution from the other batters too.

But the biggest one of the night was when Virat Kohli finally scored his first ODI century since last after 2019. He scored 113 runs in the match as India set 373 runs on the board.

Chasing the target, Umran Malik and Mohammed Siraj gave their top performance, taking 3 and 2 wickets respectively. And once when Sri Lanka were looking in dire position, the Sri Lankan captain Dasun Shanaka played a crucial inning of 108 runs unbeaten.

However, Shanaka might have not reached the achievement had the Indian captain Rohit Sharma not withdrew the appeal for run out on the non-striker end, at that time, he was on 98 runs when Shami run him out on non-striker end and it was the last over of the match as well.

Though the Indian team comfortably won the match, the Indian fans seemed disappointed with the decision from India captain Rohit Sharma as the run out on non-striker end has been made official.
