Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami register a historic partnership to help India defeat England at Lord’s

England was in a commanding position before the start of Day 5. A win for India was looking a an impossible task. The Indians were relying on Rishab Pant to help them secure a draw at most. All hopes of the Indian team were shattered after his dismissal. However, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami stitched an 89-run partnership and put India in a commanding position.

Shami scored his second half-century in Tests and was not out on 56. Bumrah remained unbeaten on 34 off 64 balls. India rallied from a shaky 209/8 to reach a score close to 300 and reclaim control of the contest.

They then opened the bowling and got early breakthroughs. The Indian duo sent back both the England openers Rory Burns and Dominic Sibley back to the pavilion for a duck. This laid the perfect foundation for the other bowlers to follow.
