The competition began in the year 2008, and since then, many players have used this platform to advance their cricketing careers. However, not all top performers received a big break despite a good performance in the IPL. Here’s an unlucky XI comprising such players.

Openers – Paul Valthaty and Shreevats Goswami (WK)

Paul Valthaty was an explosive opener who played for Punjab Kings and scored a ton against Chennai Super Kings. He scored big that season and also took wickets in 2011. Opening the innings with him will be Shreevats Goswami, the first player in the tournament’s history to win the U-19 Player of the Season award.

Middle Order – Manvinder Bisla, Rahul Tripathi, Tirumalasetti Suman, Saurabh Tiwary and Mandeep Singh

Manvinder Bisla was an impact player for Kolkata Knight Riders. No fan can forget his knock against CSK in IPL 2012 Final. Rahul Tripathi has impressed in the IPL since 2017, but he is yet to earn a place in the Indian squad. Tirumalasetti Suman was a utility player for Deccan Chargers and Mumbai Indians during his prime. He scored 676 runs in his career and also took six wickets.

Saurabh Tiwary was a game-changer for MI in 2010. While he made his international debut soon, he did not get enough chances to prove his talent. Even Mandeep Singh has been a match-winner in IPL, but he has played only three T20Is, all against Zimbabwe.

All-rounders – Iqbal Abdulla

The lone all-rounder of the team is Iqbal Abdulla who performed exceptionally well for Kolkata Knight Riders in 2011 and also impressed while playing for RCB in the later phase of his career.

Bowlers – Dhawal Kulkarni, Siddharth Trivedi and Shreyas Gopal

Dhawal Kulkarni and Siddharth Trivedi will partner with Paul Valthaty in the pace attack. Both Kulkarni and Trivedi are among the top wicket-takers in the Indian Premier League history. Shreyas Gopal has scalped 48 wickets in his career and also accounted for some big names in his career, but he hasn’t made it to the Indian squad yet.
