The first ODI game between India and the West Indies is all set to start on Thursday. Both teams will lock horns in the 140th ODI game between the two teams. India has won 70 games, while the West Indies have won 63.

However, going into the series, India is the top favorite to win it. The biggest question for the hosts will be how to avoid a clean sweep. India won the test series 1-0, with the West Indies having a rather lucky escape in the second game due to rain. However, all eyes will be on Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.

Notably, both players are not part of the T20I series, and this will be the last ODI series for them before playing Pakistan on September 2 in the Asia Cup 2023. India will play eight T20Is in between, but the duo looked to not be part of the T20I plans anymore.

Thus, it will be a great chance for both Indian stalwarts to get some games under their belts before heading into a big tournament. Both batters also looked in great form in the test series and scored 100 each. Rohit scored 240 runs in three innings, while Virat scored 197 runs.

Meanwhile, both of these batters are on the verge of some big milestones in the ODI series. Rohit has scored 9825 runs in 236 innings and needs another 175 runs to become the sixth Indian to complete 10,000 ODI runs. If he can do so in three innings, he will become the second-fastest batter after Virat (205 innings) to complete this landmark.

Sachin Tendulkar did it in 259 innings, while Rohit has played 23 fewer innings than him and needs 175 runs. Rohit has 9825 runs at an average of 48.63, with 30 centuries and 48 half-centuries. On the other hand, the former Indian captain needs another 102 runs to complete 13,000 ODI runs.

Virat has scored 12898 runs in 265 innings at an average of 57.32, with 46 centuries and 65 half-centuries. If he can make 102 runs in the next three innings, he will become the fastest to complete 13000 ODI runs in 268 innings. Sachin holds the current record, as he did it in 321 innings.
