‘Welcome semis’ – Twitter reacts as Team India beat Bangladesh at the T20 World Cup 2022

Team India registered a 5-run win over Bangladesh at the ongoing T20 World Cup in Australia on Wednesday (November 2). Batting first, despite losing captain Rohit Sharma early, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli showed resistance. They batted well a stitch a good partnership and sail the ship foward.

After a string of poor performances, Rahul finally bounced back with a fifty to his name. In-form Virat Kohli stayed unbeaten on 64 off 44 balls to continued his red-hot form with the bat. A quick cameo from Suryakumar Yadav ensured India a mammoth total of 184. Hasan Mahmud was the stand-out performer for Bangladesh as he picked up three wickets.

In reply, Bangladesh got an explosive start in the chase with the help of Liton Das, who was smashing Indian bowlers for fun. However, the rain interrupted in between and the match was reduced to 16 overs with a reset target of 151. Unfortunately, a direct throw from KL Rahul ran out Liton, who was taking the game away from India.

No other batter could get hold of the match and kept losing wickets. As a result, the Men in Blue clinched a valuable victory in the last over. With this victory, they are now leading the group table and are qualified for the semis. Bangladesh, on the hand other, will have to win their last game and hope South Africa to not win their remaining games.
