As per a recent report, Cricket South Africa has left it to the players to either pick IPL or the Test series against Bangladesh. If the cricketers choose the Test series, they will then have to be in South Africa until the middle of April. IPL will begin on March 26th and hence, they will miss a few games. South African captain Dean Elgar has reacted to the news. We take a look at what he had to say after SA players are offered to pick either IPL or Bangladesh Test series.

In a recent report by Cricbuzz, Dean Elgar was quoted saying, “The outcome of that meeting is that the players need to give CSA an indication whether they’re keen to go to the IPL or if they’re keen to play for the Test side”. While the nation is likely to be the priority, a chance in IPL is also important. Hence, it will be a difficult decision for the cricketers.

Meanwhile, captain Dean Elgar has said that he will try to persuade the players to take part for the nation. Regarding this, the player had a view. He said, “It’s a tough one leaving that up to the players, but this is how we’ll see where their loyalty lies. They mustn’t forget that Test and one-day cricket got them into the IPL, not the other way around. Hopefully by next week that will be clearer for us.”

IPL 2022 will include many top South African cricketers. Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Aiden Markram and Marco Jansen are some names who will have to take the hard decision. This decision is likely to arrive in a few more days. The franchises could also have a say in this decision. South Africa will be high on confidence after avoiding a loss in New Zealand and winning against India.
