It was delight for captain Smriti Mandhana led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) while the Delhi Capitals suffered back-to-back heartbreak as RCB beat Delhi Capitals to win the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 Final to lift their first Trophy.

In the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 Final played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, Delhi Capitals Women’s team opted to bat first after winning the toss. The team could only put 113 runs on the board before being all-out in 18.3 overs. Royal Challengers Bangalore chased the target with 3 balls remaining to lift the Trophy.

Batting first, Delhi Capitals got off to a good start as the opening duo of Meg Lanning and Shafali Verma 64 runs in 7 overs. But after, it was just brilliant bowling from RCB bowlers with Shreyanka Patil picking-up 4 wickets, supported by Asha Sobhana’s 2 wickets and Sophie Molineux’s 3 wickets.

With the bat, Smriti Mandhana, Sophie Devine, Ellyse Perry all scored 30+ with Perry’s remaining not out to see her team beat Delhi Capitals and win their maiden WPL Trophy. In this article, let’s have a look at the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 award winners and prize money.

Orange Cap Winner – Ellyse Perry

Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Ellyse Perry finished as the top run scorer in the tournament, scoring 347 runs in 9 innings, thus won the Orange Cap and a cash prize of 5 Lakh INR.

Purple Cap Winner – Shreyanka Patil

The 4 wickets in the WPL 2024 Final match against Delhi Capitals helped Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Shreyanka Patil win the Purple Cap having taken 12 wickets in 8 matches. She also bagged 5 Lakh INR as cash prize.

Most Valuable Player (MVP) – Deepti Sharma

UP Warriorz’s Deepti Sharma won the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award. She has been brilliant in the tournament, taking 10 wickets with the ball and scored 295 runs with the bat at an average of 98.33. She also bagged 5 Lakh INR.

Emerging Player of the Season – Shreyanka Patil

After a breakout season last year that saw Shreyanka Patil make India debut, she once again delivered top notch performance, finishing as the top wicket-taker with 12 wickets. She was named the Emerging Player of the Season of WPL 2024 and also won 5 Lakh INR.

Most Powerful Striker of the Season – Georgia Wareham

Australia’s all-rounder Georgia Wareham won the Most Powerful Striker of the Season award at the post match ceremony. He was amazing throughout the tournament and very known for playing some hard-hitting shots. He scored 111 runs in the tournament with a strike rate of 163, the highest in the tournament. He also won 5 Lakh INR as prize money.

Most Sixes of the Tournament – Shafali Verma

It was a heart-break for the Delhi Capitals’ opener Shafali Verma, but she bagged the most sixes award as well as 5 Lakh INR for hitting the most sixes in the tournament. She hit a total of 20 sixes in the tournament, 10 more than the 2nd placed Smriti Mandhana and Richa Ghosh with 10 sixes each.

Runners-up – Delhi Capitals

It was a heart-break for the Delhi Capitals in the WPL 2023, losing the inaugural final to the eventual champions Mumbai Indians. They reached the final once again, but unfortunately, they were on the losing end once again. Delhi Capitals won a cash prize of 3 Crore INR for finishing runners-up in the tournament.

Champions – Royal Challengers Bangalore

Smriti Mandhana led Royal Challengers Bangalore reached the Women’s Premier League final for the first time, and unlike the men’s team, they were lucky the first-time itself as they won the WPL 2024 final beating Delhi Capitals to lift their first ever Trophy. For becoming champions, Royal Challengers Bangalore also won cash prize of 5 Crore INR.
