WPL 2024 Playoffs Format Explained: Women’s Premier League 2024 playoffs matches, date, timing and venue

Nearly a month long Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 season league phase has come to an end and we have reached the playoffs stage of the competition, where teams will have their one and only chance at winning the Women’s Premier League season 2 Trophy.

The league phase of the 2nd edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) officially concluded on the 13th of the March with the Delhi Capitals Women’s team picking up a crucial win over the Gujarat Giants to secure the top of the table position.

Chasing just 127 runs, Shafali Verma scored 71 runs off 37 balls and was greatly appreciated by Jemimah Rodriguez’s 38 runs inning to help Delhi Capitals chase down the target in just 13.1 overs to secure the victory and the top of the table spot.

With this match, the league phase of of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 has come to an end and we move on to the playoffs. Unlike the men’s T20 league, the Indian Premier League (IPL), in the Women’s Premier League (WPL), there is only two playoff matches.

Whereas the IPL have the Qualifier 1, Eliminator, Qualifier 2 and the Final, the WPL have one Eliminator match and the Grand Finale.

Meg Lanning led Delhi Capitals have directly qualified for the final of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 final to be played on the 17th of March for finishing the league phase of the tournament at the top of the points table.

The Eliminator match meanwhile will be the played between the 2nd placed and the 3rd placed teams in the league, they are Mumbai Indians (MI) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) respectively.

Mumbai Indians, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, finished 2nd in the league table with 10 points from 8 matches while Royal Challengers Bangalore, captained by Smriti Mandhana, finished 3rd in the league table with 8 points from 8 matches. Both the teams will face-off in the Eliminator on the 15th of March, the winner of which will then qualify for the final against Delhi Capitals on the 17th March.

The Eliminator and the Final match of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 will be played on the 15th and 17th March respectively with the matches beginning from 7:30 P.M Indian Standard Time (IST). Both the matches will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
