Prithvi Shaw won the ICC U-19 World Cup as the captain of India in 2018. Soon after, he broke into the senior Indian cricket team and scored a hundred on Test debut. He even made it to the Indian squad for the away series against the Australian cricket team. Unfortunately, he injured himself during a practice match and missed Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2018/19.

After many ups and downs, he made it to the Indian squad for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in 2020/21 as well, but he could not impress much. Subsequently, he was picked in the Indian squad for the series against the Sri Lankan cricket team. Shaw did well in the ODI series, but got out for a golden duck on T20I debut.

Almost one year has passed since that game but Shaw has not played another T20I match in his career. It is not that he is not playing well. Despite being a top performer for the Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League, Shaw has been unluckily absent in the Indian T20I squad.

Many fans thought that the selectors would pick him for the series against Ireland, scheduled to begin later this month. However, Shaw’s name was missing in the team. Seemingly reacting to that snub, Shaw posted the following story on his Instagram account.

Virender Sehwag feels India should consider picking Prithvi Shaw in Tests

Prithvi Shaw was also ignored for the upcoming Test match against the England cricket team. Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag had recently commented:

“He (Prithvi Shaw) is a player who can bring back the excitement in Test cricket. Opposition will have to think if 400 would be enough with Shaw and Pant in our ranks. Shaw and Pant in one team could help India rule Test cricket, win World Test Championship.”
