Scoring a 200 in an ODI match takes a toll on the physical health of a player. Even the fittest players in the world may struggle a bit while scoring a double hundred. The reason behind that is the players have to run hard between the wickets and also hit the boundaries at regular intervals to touch this milestone.
Only a few batters have managed to accomplish the milestone in cricket history. It has been observed that when a player plays a big knock in the first innings, he generally does not come out to field in the next innings and prefers to take rest.
However, there have been two such cricketers in ODI history, who not only scored a 200 in an ODI match but they also took a wicket with the ball in the same game. Here are the two names.
1. One of the big-match players: Glenn Maxwell vs. Afghanistan, 2023 World Cup
Glenn Maxwell became the first cricketer in ODI history to hit a double hundred while batting second. The all-rounder achieved the feat while playing against the Afghanistan cricket team earlier this week at the Wankhede Stadium in the 2023 World Cup.
Maxwell scored 201 runs and helped Australia recover from 91/7 to chase down a 292-run target successfully. Earlier in the match, Maxwell also bowled a few overs of right-arm off-spin and returned with figures of 1/55 for Australia. He took the wicket of Rahmat Shah.

The first cricketer to achieve this feat was Chris Gayle. The former West Indies captain became the first player in World Cup history to register a double hundred at the grand stage. He scored 215 runs in the first innings of the match against Zimbabwe and then bowled a spell of 2/35 in six overs.
