Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) is one of the most popular franchises in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Whenever a new player gets a contract from RCB, his followers increase on social media, and fans are curious to know about his style of play.
Several big names of world cricket have represented this franchise. In fact, there have been many instances when a player’s career skyrocketed after he left RCB. However, the same has not been true for the following five foreign cricketers.
1. Johan van der Wath never got an IPL deal after RCB released him
Former South African pace bowling all-rounder Johan van der Wath was an underrated T20 player. RCB released him before the 2012 season, and then, no team showed interest in his services.
2. Jonathan Vandiar never got an IPL deal after RCB released him
Another former South African all-rounder to feature on the list is Jonathan Vandiar. The southpaw was signed by RCB in 2011 and released in 2012. No one ever bought him again.
3. Nuwan Pradeep
Sri Lankan pacer Nuwan Pradeep received a place in the RCB squad for the 2011 season. Like Vandiar and van der Wath, it proved to be the last season for Pradeep in the IPL.
4. George Garton
English fast bowler George Garton has done a phenomenal job in T20 leagues apart from IPL. Considering his fantastic performances, RCB offered him as a replacement player in 2021. However, Garton could not impress much and has stayed away from the league ever since.
5. Scott Kuggeleijn
New Zealand fast bowler Scott Kuggeleijn joined the RCB team in 2021 as a replacement for Kane Richardson. The IPL season was suspended shortly after that, and Kuggeleijn returned home without playing any matches. He has been unsold at IPL auctions after that.
