Every franchise goes into an auction with a set of plans. However, with the event being a dynamic one, not all of these plans end up being executed. And in a mega-auction, the complexity increases. After the ongoing season, we might see two new teams getting added and hence, there will be an IPL 2022 Mega-Auction.

RCB is one franchise that has grown in the last three years. There are a few youngsters in the squad who can form a strong core for the unit. However, with the mega-auction coming up, they might stand losing a few. We discuss this in the below headings.

1. Mohammed Siraj – Will Be In Demand At IPL 2022 Mega-Auction

Although Mohammed Siraj is doing remarkably well, he may not be worth the amount to be retained. That said, he also has the potential to lead the bowling attack of the franchise. RCB might have no option but to release him. However, if they do that, they could struggle at the auction. Siraj will have plenty of suitors, and his bid could hit the roof in no time. RCB will have other targets also in the picture, and hence, they may not be able to afford to buy back the Hyderabadi pacer.

2. Washington Sundar – Team Will Bid Big For Him At IPL 2022 Mega-Auction

Just like Siraj, Washington Sundar also does not look like a player who is worthy of a retainment. Yes, he is a youngster and is doing well, but Washi is yet to prove his credentials as a T20 batsman. Moreover, Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal would lie ahead of him in the pecking order. So, if Washi does get released, he too will extract a big bid at the auctions. There is a long-term incentive associated with him that will draw a lot of attention. If the price goes up very hastily, RCB could tend to lose him.

3. Yuzvendra Chahal

Yuzvendra Chahal may not be retained by RCB ahead of the IPL 2022 Mega-Auction. He seems to have lost his mojo and is suffering from a lack of self-confidence. If RCB releases him, though, getting him back could be a tough task. With two new teams coming in, the worth of an experienced leggie will go high. Hence, it is likely that his price would go up. RCB could be in a position where hiring him could dent their purse. Hence, they might end up losing the player.

4. Shahbaz Ahmad

Every franchise now needs to have a left-arm spinning all-rounder. As seen in recent years, these players have been having a terrific impact on the franchisee’s performance. Be it Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel or Krunal Pandya, they are all contributing very well. Shahbaz Ahmad certainly looks like he could join the list soon. While his bowling skills look alright, his batting could get improved. Franchises will be aware of it and might look to hire him at the auctions.

5. Glenn Maxwell

Glenn Maxwell has done well so far this season. However, it is unlikely that this would convince RCB of retaining him ahead of IPL 2022. He has been inconsistent in the previous seasons, and that would be a defining factor. That said, buying him back at the auctions would be difficult, too. Maxi has rediscovered his touch in IPL and will be an attractive addition to the middle-order of most teams. Hence, like every season, he could yet again earn a big bid and then fall out of RCB’s hands.
