Since this is a mega auction, some teams could not make emotional decisions. They had to make some harsh decisions as well. Here are the five things that fans will see first time in IPL Auction history in 2022 season.

1. Delhi Capitals release Shreyas Iyer

This thing has happened officially now. Shreyas Iyer, who took the Delhi Capitals to their first IPL Final in 2020, is no longer a part of the franchise. Iyer played all of his previous seasons for DC only. He was one of the famous players of DC, but the team has retained four other players and released Iyer for the first time ever.

3. A team from Uttar Pradesh at the auction table

A team from Uttar Pradesh has never been a part of the IPL Auction before. Ahmedabad and Lucknow will make their auction debuts in 2022, but Gujarat has been a part of the auction table in 2016 and 2017.

4. Reduction in salaries of Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni before the auction

For the first time since their IPL debuts, the salaries of Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni will show a negative trend in 2022. Kohli had a salary of 17 crore in 2021 but it has come down to 15 crore in 2021. Meanwhile, Dhoni’s salary for 2022 is 12 crore.
