The 50th match of IPL 2022 is in the history books, with the Delhi Capitals registering a convincing win against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. SRH captain Kane Williamson won the toss and elected to field first. Bhuvneshwar Kumar got SRH off to a good start with a wicket maiden, but David Warner’s half-century helped DC win the match.
Warner opened the innings with Mandeep Singh. Kumar dismissed Singh in the first over itself, but Warner held one end till the last over and scored 92 runs for his team. His 92-run knock featured 12 fours and three sixes. He batted at a strike rate of 158.
The Australian batter had an opportunity to complete his first century of IPL 2022, but Warner allowed Rovman Powell to play his natural game in the 20th over. Powell asked Warner when he was on 92 if he wishes to come on strike and complete his century. However, the Aussie said that personal milestones do not matter to him, and he asked him to play for the team.
“I asked him if he wanted a single to get a hundred but he told me this isn’t how we play cricket and I should try to smack it as far as I can and as hard as I can and I did it,” Powell revealed after the first innings.
Twitterati laud David Warner for his selflessness in the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad

I got winded at the end. I asked DW if I should get a single to allow his 100 but he told me, “that's not how the game is played”, and told me to go big.
Warner, what a selfless player! 👏👏#IPL2022 @davidwarner31 pic.twitter.com/epaYGU98k0
Rovman Powell – I was trying my best. I wanted him to get to a hundred, but he asked me to hit as hard as I could, and wasn't bothered about his own hundred (about Warner).
