Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill has quickly become a match-winner for the Indian cricket team. He came into the limelight during the 2018 U-19 World Cup. Playing under the captaincy of Prithvi Shaw, Gill scored heaps of runs for the Boys in Blue and starred in their championship win on New Zealand’s soil.

A year later, Shubman Gill earned his maiden national call-up to the senior team and made his debut against the New Zealand cricket team. Although his debut was not so memorable, Gill got another chance to showcase his talent in Australia in 2020. After a decent performance in the ODI game, he played a match-winning knock for India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2020/21.

In 2022, Gill has been a regular member of the Indian squads in Test and ODI formats. Despite winning IPL 2022 with the Gujarat Titans, he has not been given enough chances in the T20I format of the game. Gill has done well in the matches where he has represented the Indian team this year.

Shubman Gill is ahead of Babar Azam in one particular stat of ODI cricket

Thanks to his magnificent performances in the ODI series against Zimbabwe and West Indies, Gill won the Man of the Series award in both of them. Fans should note that both series were away series for India.

So Gill now has two Man of the Series to his name in ODI cricket when one considers away matches. On the other side, Pakistan captain Babar Azam is yet to win one in 49 matches. A Twitter user shared this statistic on social media.
