Babar Azam is reckoned by many as one of the best batters in world cricket at the moment. Many cricket experts have suggested that the right-handed batter from Pakistan should be added to the list of Fab 4 batters as the fifth addition. While that change is yet to happen, Azam became the fastest batter in ODI cricket history to score 15 hundreds in the 50-over format of cricket.
Azam completed his 15th ODI hundred in his 83rd innings for the Pakistan cricket team. The previous best was Hashim Amla who took 86 innings to register 15 hundreds in ODI cricket. Azam’s 15th hundred was also one of the quickest by a Pakistan batter in the ODI cricket history.
The Pakistan cricket team captain took only 73 deliveries for his century. He smashed 10 fours and a six en route to his 15th ODI century.
While it looked like Azam would guide the Pakistan team home in a run-chase of 349 runs against the Australian cricket team, he lost his wicket when he was on 114 runs. He handed a catch to Marnus Labuschagne off Nathan Ellis’ bowling.
