The 29th match of the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League happened last night at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. Gujarat Titans battled the Chennai Super Kings for the first time ever in IPL history, and it was the Gujarat-based franchise that emerged victorious over the four-time champions. Some CSK fans were disappointed with the team selection because they felt Dwaine Pretorius deserved a chance to play.

Talking about the match first, the Gujarat Titans won the toss and decided to field first. Stand-in skipper Rashid Khan did a decent job on captaincy debut as he made good bowling changes and kept CSK down to 169/5 despite a half-century from Ruturaj Gaikwad.

In reply, Gujarat Titans lost wickets at regular intervals, and it seemed like they would lose the match in Hardik Pandya’s absence. However, David Miller dished out a special performance to stun the Chennai Super Kings. He remained not out on 94 runs off 51 deliveries, smacking eight fours and six sixes to guide GT home.

Here’s what Miller said at the post-match presentation after winning the Man of the Match award:

“I’ve been working really hard. You mentioned Faf (du Plessis) – he’s always number 1 in the gym so trying to better him. It does take me back memory lane but I was just trying to play my game and ‘see ball, hit ball’ in that sense. I was just looking to play my game and it’s nice that it came off.”

Fans on Twitter believed that CSK missed Dwaine Pretorius

Chris Jordan was the primary overseas bowler in CSK’s lineup last night and he returned with figures of 3.5-0-58-0. Fans felt Dwaine Pretorius deserved a place ahead of him, and here’s how they reacted on Twitter:
