The 60th match of the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League is underway right now at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai, where the Punjab Kings are battling the Royal Challengers Bangalore. RCB captain Faf du Plessis won the toss and decided to bowl first, but the decision did not work in his team’s favor as Jonny Bairstow launched an all-out assault in the powerplay overs.
Bairstow struggled for form in the initial matches but he returned to form in the last game, scoring a half-century. He improved his performance further tonight at the Brabourne Stadium, racing to another fifty in the Punjab Kings jersey. The Punjab Kings opener scored 66 runs off just 29 balls, smacking four fours and seven sixes.
Fans present at the Brabourne Stadium enjoyed the power-hitting from Bairstow as he took advantage of the batter-friendly conditions and hit the RCB bowlers all around the ground. Shahbaz Ahmed finally picked up his wicket in the tenth over of the innings, but by then, the score had already crossed 100.
Speaking of the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Punjab Kings, here’s what RCB captain Faf du Plessis said after winning the toss:
“We’ll have a bowl. The trends in the competition suggest that the wickets are getting better, toss isn’t making much of a difference. Same team, We played some good all-round cricket in the last few games, hopefully everyone can play their role perfectly today as well. Looks like a good wicket, just unsure how it will play early on.”

Remarkably, that's the first time Bairstow's got a 50 in a T20 Powerplay. Looks like a proper road but he's been immense so far

Runs – 59*
Balls – 22
Strike Rate – 268.2
4s/6s – 3/7
Those were some unbelievable hits from Bairstow. To pick those balls up from those lengths and get that sort of elevation. Amazing.

Bairstow's 66(29) is such a typical #PunjabKings innings. Keep going, keep taking chances and back the rest of the batting to do the same.
