Speaking about the ongoing battle between the England cricket team and the New Zealand cricket team, the home team has a 2-0 lead in the three-match series. The Ben Stokes-led outfit will be keen to whitewash the reigning ICC World Test Championship champions. New Zealand won the toss and opted to bat first at Headingley.

The decision worked in their favor as a century from Daryl Mitchell helped them score 329 runs in the first innings. Mitchell has been in sensational form this summer, and Rajasthan Royals Head of Cricket Operations Kumar Sangakkara recalled how Mitchell would take notes from him during IPL 2022 even when he was not playing in the matches.

“He carried his iPad to every team meeting, took notes and asked questions. It wasn’t asking questions for the sake of asking questions, he was heavily involved. The way he carried himself, in a bio-bubble for over two months, the hard work he put in at the nets despite playing two matches, it was top-class,” Sangakkara said on Sky Sports.

Daryl Mitchell is not the only player who benefitted from playing in the IPL; even Jonny Bairstow has been on fire

Along with Daryl Mitchell, it seems like IPL has had a positive impact on the performance of Jonny Bairstow as well. The right-handed batter smashed the second-fastest hundred in England’s Test history during the previous game. Today, he scored another century in less than 100 deliveries.

Here are some of the top Twitter reactions to the counterattacking hundred from Bairstow that helped England reach 264/6 from 55/6.
