The first test match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka is underway at the Galle International Stadium. On the fifth day, the visitors are completely dominating the game and are on the verge of chasing the biggest target in their Test history. Sri Lanka gave a big target of 341 to Babar Azam and his team in the fourth innings.
The target looked like a mountain to climb for Pakistan. But both openers gave them a dream start and added 87 runs for the first wicket to start the chase. However, they lost two quick wickets in the middle, which brought the Pakistani skipper to the crease.
Babar, who was coming off a century in the first innings, then once again played beautifully. On the other hand, the opener, Abdullah Shafique, was looking solid at the other end. Both batsmen added 172 runs for the third wicket to set the right platform for a big chase.
During the partnership, Shafique brought up his second century. While Babar Azam made yet another half-century. The partnership appeared to be threatening Sri Lanka. But it was Prabath Jayasuriya, who has already registered three fifers in his three international innings, who came to dismiss the Pakistani skipper.
It was the fifth ball of the 79th over, Babar was looking very good for yet another century. Jayasuriya bowled a wide delivery to the leg stump, which was too wide to be left alone. That’s what Babar did as he left the ball, but the ball turned so sharply that it turned from the back and hit the stumps of the batter.
Fans reacted to Jayasuriya’s “Ball of Year” to dismiss Babar Azam
The Pakistani skipper looked stunned by the turn and was standing on the pitch totally clueless. It was unexpected from the bowler and to get the wicket of a well-settled Babar Azam is itself a big achievement. Fans were also surprised to see the ball turning so much and couldn’t stop themselves from referring to the delivery as the “Ball of the Year.” So let’s check out some reactions from the fans.
