The second phase of IPL 2021 will begin with a match between CSK and Mi this Sunday in the United Arab Emirates. Fans are very excited to see this match because the last time these two teams crossed paths, they met in a high-scoring encounter, where the Mumbai Indians defeated the Chennai Super Kings.

The two franchises have been a part of the IPL since the inaugural season and have won eight championships in total to date. There have been many common players between the two teams, and in this article today, we will look at the best playing XI of star players who have played for both CSK and MI in IPL.

Openers – Michael Hussey and Parthiv Patel (wk)

Two left-handed batsmen will open the innings for this unique playing XI. The first is Australia’s Michael Hussey and the second is India’s Parthiv Patel. Both players started their careers with CSK in the year 2008 but later played for MI as well. Both have retired now and are in backroom staff of CSK and MI, respectively.

Middle Order – Robin Uthappa, Ambati Rayudu and Dwayne Smith

Robin Uthappa and Ambati Rayudu will be the number three and four batsman of this XI. The two right-handed batsmen have played many memorable knocks in their IPL careers. Both are in CSK team right now. Meanwhile, Dwayne Smith was a game-changer who could destroy any bowling attack in the tournament.

All-rounders – Thisara Perera, DJ Bravo and Jacob Oram

Thisara Perera played his first IPL season for CSK in 2010 and won the championship. He is one of the three all-rounders in the team along with DJ Bravo and Jacob Oram. Bravo captained MI once, while Oram played one match for MI. Both players had longer stints with CSK.

Bowlers – Josh Hazlewood, Harbhajan Singh, Ashish Nehra and Karn Sharma

Josh Hazlewood and Ashish Nehra will lead the pace attack. They will form a right arm pace and left arm pace bowling combination. Karn Sharma, who is currently with CSK, will be the sole leg-spinner. Harbhajan Singh, who played ten seasons for MI, completes this team featuring cricketers who have played for both CSK and MI.
