The 40th match of the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League is currently underway at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, where the Sunrisers Hyderabad are locking horns with the Gujarat Titans. SRH are the only franchise to have defeated GT in this year’s IPL. It seems like they may complete a double over the Gujarat-based franchise because Umran Malik is in top form.

GT won the toss and opted to field first at the Wankhede Stadium. Half-centuries from Abhishek Sharma and Aiden Markram guided the Sunrisers Hyderabad to a score of 195 runs in their 20 overs. Shashank Singh stole the show in the death overs with a six-ball 25*.

Speaking to host broadcasters after the first innings, Aiden Markram said:

“The timing was very crucial for us. We wanted to extend our partnership deep. The wicket was not playing as it has done in other games. Rashid is an incredible bowler and we give him that respect. It showed the fearlessness of Abhishek how he tackled Rashid and it took a lot of pressure off myself.”

In reply, GT got off to an excellent start with opening batter Wriddhiman Saha scoring a half-century for them. Shubman Gill supported him well as the duo stitched up a 69-run stand for the first wicket. The SRH bowlers looked helpless until Umran Malik came into the attack.
