The Royal Challengers Bangalore have signed one player from the marquee set of the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. They have roped in former South African cricket team captain Faf du Plessis for a whopping INR 7 crore. Since the last 10 years, du Plessis was playing with MS Dhoni.

His first team was the Chennai Super Kings. When CSK received a suspension in 2015, du Plessis played with Dhoni for the Rising Pune Supergiant team. Afterwards in 2018, du Plessis returned to the Chennai Super Kings as they used the Right To Match card to buy him back.

However, this time around, there was no option to use the RTM card. The Royal Challengers Bangalore had an intense bidding war with the Chennai Super Kings, and ultimately, they signed him for a price of INR 7 crore. The former South African cricket team captain entered the auction with a base price of INR 2 crore.

The Chennai Super Kings were the first franchise to bid for him. The Royal Challengers Bangalore joined in soon, and in no time, the amount crossed 3 crore. Delhi Capitals showed interest next as CSK quit the bidding war. DC and RCB fought until the figure reached INR 7 crore. Eventually, it was RCB that signed du Plessis.
