Dinesh Karthik has dominated the bowlers in the 2022 edition of Indian Premier League. He has been a game-changer for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2022. Last night against the Rajasthan Royals, Karthik played another great knock and helped RCB prevail in a close encounter. Many fans feel he should play for India in the T20 World Cup.
The wicket-keeper batter came out to bat when the team’s score was 62/4 in a run-chase of 170 runs. Soon after, Sherfane Rutherford lost his wicket as RCB were down to 87/5. Shahbaz Ahmed then joined forces with Dinesh Karthik and took the team’s score closer to the target.
Karthik and Ahmed had a magnificent partnership of 67 runs for the sixth wicket. They ensured that the Bangalore-based franchise reached very close to the target. Ahmed lost his stumps to Trent Boult, but Harshal Patel and Dinesh finished the formalities to give RCB a victory.
Speaking at the post-match presentation after winning the Man of the Match award, Karthik said:
“I made a conscious effort this year to do justice to myself because I felt last year I could have done better. The way I trained was better – hats off to the person I trained with. He put me through some things which was very important for me in life as well. I was making a conscious effort to tell myself that I’m not done yet, I have a goal and I want to achieve something and I tried my best.”
