The only Test match between the South African women’s cricket team and the England women’s cricket team is currently underway in Taunton. Rain has interrupted the proceedings on Day 4 in this match, but so far, fans have witnessed some top-quality cricket from the two sides. Tumi Sekhukhune has impressed the fans with her performance for South Africa.
Talking about the match between the South African women’s cricket team and the England women’s cricket team, a 150-run knock from Marizanne Kapp helped the visitors post a 284-run total on the board in the first innings. Debutant Issy Wong picked up the big wicket of Laura Woolvardt in the first innings. In a chat with ESPNCricinfo after taking the big wicket, Wong shared details of her conversation with the coach and said:
“I sat on my bed and I was thinking, ‘oh no she’s sending me home, I’m going to be driving up the M5 tonight’. She said, ‘I’m delighted to tell you we’re going to give you a debut.’ I think my reaction was, ‘yes, sound!’ It was probably something that I wasn’t expecting so I don’t think it’s sunk in yet, to be honest.”
In reply, centuries from Nat Sciver and Alice Davidson-Richards powered the England women’s cricket team to 417/8 in their first innings. The home team declared the innings after taking a big lead. Tumi Sekhukhune picked up one wicket and executed one run-out during the innings.
The South African women’s cricket team is 140/5 after 57.3 overs in the second innings as rain has interrupted the proceedings at Taunton.
Fans noticed similarity between bowling style of Tumi Sekhukhune and Jasprit Bumrah
