After two action-packed double-headers on the weekend, fans are witnessing a battle between the Gujarat Titans and the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and elected to field first. SRH got rid of the in-form Shubman Gill during the powerplay overs courtesy of an excellent catch from Rahul Tripathi.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar opened the bowling for the Sunrisers Hyderabad team. He bowled a disappointing first over as he conceded too many extras. Marco Jansen pulled things back with a decent second over. In the third over, Shubman Gill smashed a perfect cover drive, but Rahul Tripathi grabbed a one-handed stunner to send Gill back to the dressing room.
Gill was in top form. He registered the top two highest scores of his IPL career during his last two innings. Fans expected another big knock from Gill in the Gujarat Titans jersey. However, the right-handed batter had to return to the dressing room after scoring just five runs.
Earlier in the evening, Williamson called the coin toss right and invited GT to bat first. Here’s what he said at the toss:
“We’re going to bowl. There is a potential dew factor, and we’ll look to chase it in the end. We saw improvement in the second match and then in the third, and hopefully we can improve further over here. We have to be adaptable, playing at the different grounds and we need to adjust.”
