The Indian cricket team received a major blow as star player Virat Kohli was ruled out of the first ODI owing to a groin injury. Shreyas Iyer received a place in the playing XI instead of Virat. However, Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan ensured that the other batters did not get a chance to bat in the middle for the Indian cricket team.

First, a splendid six-wicket haul from ace fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah helped the Indian cricket team bowl the England cricket team out for just 110 runs. The innings of the England cricket team lasted only 25.2 overs. Bumrah bagged six wickets, while Mohammed Shami dismissed three batters of the England cricket team. Prasidh Krishna took a wicket as well.

None of the batters of the England cricket team could get going in the middle. The likes of Jason Roy, Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow, Liam Livingstone and Ben Stokes had a forgettable day in London. Chasing 111 runs to win, India won the match in just 18.4 overs.
