Virat Kohli is not playing in the first ODI of the three-match series between the Indian cricket team and the England cricket team. Yesterday, reports surfaced on social media claiming that Kohli has sustained a groin injury which may rule him out of the first ODI of the series.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma confirmed the reports at the toss and said that Kohli is not in the playing XI due to a niggle. When asked who is replacing him at number three in the playing XI, Rohit said that instead of Kohli, Shreyas Iyer will bat at number three for the Men in Blue in their first ODI against the England cricket team in London today.

Soon after, a journalist who is in London for the first ODI of the three-match series between the Indian cricket team and the England cricket team, shared a photo of Virat Kohli on Twitter. Kohli is at the Kennington Oval with the team, but he is not in the playing XI. Here’s what Kohli did on the ground as per the journalist:

Rohit Sharma confirmed that Shreyas Iyer will bat at number three instead of Virat Kohli

Captain Rohit Sharma informed fans about the combination of the Indian cricket team for the first ODI of the series against the England cricket team and said:

“We know how important it is to take wickets up front and take care of the scoring rate. We understand the importance of playing overseas. We’re going with five batters, two all rounders and four seamers. Kohli will not play. Shreyas will bat at three.”
