The 67th match of the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League is underway right now, where the Royal Challengers Bangalore are battling tabletoppers Gujarat Titans. GT captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and decided to bat first. The decision worked in GT’s favor as they got off to a good start. However, Matthew Wade lost his wicket due to an umpiring howler.

During the final over of the powerplay bowled by Glenn Maxwell, a delivery hit Wade’s bat and then hit his pads. The fielding team appealed for an LBW, which was given out by the on-field umpire. Wade instantly reviewed it because he knew the ball hit the bat first.

Surprisingly though the third umpire ruled the decision against him because the ultra-edge did not show any connection between bat and ball. As expected, Wade was unhappy with the dismissal. He was looking good in the middle as he scored 16 runs off 13 deliveries, hitting two fours and a six.

While returning to the dressing room, Virat Kohli tried to calm him down, but Wade returned to the dressing room and took out his frustration by throwing his bat and helmet. Earlier in the evening, GT captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and decided to bat first. Here’s what he said at the toss:

“We will bat first. It’s just the kind of situation we are in. We have done well as a group this season but we have not capitalized while batting first, so we’ll look to do that. We have made one change. Lockie comes in for Alzarri. We asked all the boys. They were all pumped to play all the games.”
