The Royal Challengers Bangalore are taking on the Chennai Super Kings in the 22nd match of the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League. New RCB skipper Faf du Plessis won the toss and elected to field first. The decision seemed to be working in RCB’s favor during the first six overs, but CSK bounced back, thanks to a partnership of 165 runs between Shivam Dube and Robin Uthappa. The Chennai Super Kings set a 217-run target for the Royal Challengers Bangalore, riding on fifties from Shivam Dube and Robin Uthappa. Both batters were very close to their centuries, but they missed out by close margins. While Uthappa lost his wicket for 88, Dube remained not out on 95 runs. CSK posted 216/4 on the board in their 20 overs.

Speaking after the completion of the first innings in the big game between CSK and RCB, Dube said:

“Just keeping it simple. Nothing special. Just watching the ball. I’m used to this ground, so I was just trying to be disciplined in my batting. (On what MSD said to him before the final ball) Just keep calm and keep watching the ball. Nothing else. (On dew) It’s still pretty dry today. That’s good for us.”
