The 55th match of the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League is currently underway, where the Chennai Super Kings are battling the Delhi Capitals. DC won the toss and invited CSK to bat first. CSK’s openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway have provided a solid start to the Chennai-based franchise. The two openers added 110 runs for the first wicket in just 11 overs. Anrich Nortje broke the partnership.
Gaikwad lost his wicket after a well-made 33-ball 41, but Devon Conway has held one end and ensured that the Chennai Super Kings post a big total on the board. The highlight of Gaikwad’s innings was the six that he smashed off Anrich Nortje’s bowling on the first ball of his spell.
DC captain Rishabh Pant introduced Nortje late into the bowling attack. He came in to bowl the third over of the match. Nortje bowled a fuller length delivery. Gaikwad showed no respect to him as he stepped out of his crease and smacked the ball over the long-on boundary for a six.
However, Nortje leveled the score by picking up Gaikwad’s wicket later in the innings. Speaking of Nortje, here’s what he said before the match during an interview with the host broadcasters:
“It’s been good actually, pulled up alright. Just happy to be able to bowl and be on the park with full intensity. Pulling up fine so really happy about that. It’s been a long time since I’ve been here. The body’s been good – it’s just about getting the rhythm and everything going with my skills.”
