In one of the most disappointing developments for any cricket fan, Chennai Super Kings opener Devon Conway lost his wicket against the Mumbai Indians. Conway was in good form, and he opened the innings for the Chennai Super Kings tonight along with Ruturaj Gaikwad. However, both openers had a forgettable day in the office against the Mumbai Indians.
Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to field first in the IPL 2022 match at the Wankhede Stadium. The decision worked well for the Mumbai-based franchise as the Chennai Super Kings slumped to 39/6. Talking about what happened at the toss, here’s what MI captain Rohit had to say:
“We will field first. It’s the nature of the ground, and what suits our team. Nothing has worked for us this season. Keeping an eye on the future, Pollard is out and Stubbs is in. Shokeen comes in for Ashwin. He (Pollard) was the one who came up to us and he was ready for it.”
Daniel Sams bowled the first over for the Mumbai Indians with Devon Conway on strike. The first ball was a dot, while the second one slid down the leg-side but hit Conway’s leg-side.
Twitterati react as Devon Conway gets out in an unlucky fashion against the Mumbai Indians
Many fans opined that the ball was going down the leg-side, but when the Mumbai Indians appealed, the umpire ruled Conway out. Also, the DRS was unavailable because of a powercut in the stadium. Fans were in shock after reading about the reason for no DRS. Here are some of the Twitter reactions:
Unlucky for Devon Conway, the ball was missing leg stump. He couldn't take the DRS due to powercut in the stadium. pic.twitter.com/kyaUJsZw9e
