Karnataka captain Manish Pandey grabbed everyone’s attention when he kept the wickets for his state team during their Ranji Trophy quarterfinal match against the Uttar Pradesh cricket team. Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh battled in one of the four quarterfinal matches of this year’s Ranji Trophy, where Uttar Pradesh emerged victorious.
Fans should note that Uttar Pradesh never won a match against Karnataka in Ranji Trophy before, but a spectacular half-century from Karan Sharma helped them win the game and qualify for the semifinals. Speaking of the match between Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh, the fixture happened at the KSCA Cricket Ground in Alur.
Uttar Pradesh captain Karan Sharma won the toss and decided to bowl first. Half-centuries from Ravikumar Samarth and Shreyas Gopal helped Karnataka post a 253-run total on the board in the first innings. Saurabh Kumar took four wickets for Uttar Pradesh.
In reply, Uttar Pradesh lost all their wickets for just 155 runs. Ronit More stole the show with a three-wicket haul. Karnataka had the first-innings lead and they could have set a big target for the Uttar Pradesh side. However, a three-wicket haul from Saurabh Kumar ensured that Karnataka were all out for just 114 runs in their second innings.
Chasing 213 runs for a place in the next round, Uttar Pradesh won the game by five wickets, riding on an unbeaten 163-ball 93* from captain Karan Sharma.
