Michael Bracewell played one of the greatest knocks in ODI cricket history to help the New Zealand cricket team pull off an unbelievable run-chase at The Village against the Ireland cricket team. Playing in the first match of the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League series between the New Zealand cricket team and the Ireland cricket team, Bracewell aggregated 127 runs off 82 deliveries.
Bracewell came out to bat when the New Zealand cricket team was down to 120/5 in the 22nd over. Finn Allen, Will Young, Tom Latham, Henry Nicholls and Martin Guptill were all back in the hut. With a 301-run target to chase, it looked like the New Zealand cricket team would suffer their first defeat in the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League.
But Bracewell played a gem of a knock and made sure that the Blackcaps maintained their 100% win record in the competition. He added 61 runs for the seventh wicket with Ish Sodhi and then had a 64-run ninth wicket partnership with Lockie Ferguson.
In the end, the Kiwis needed 20 runs off the last six deliveries. Craig Young failed to execute his plans as the New Zealand cricket team pulled off an improbable win. Speaking at the post-match presentation after winning the Man of the Match award, Bracewell said:
“To do it for New Zealand, was brilliant. I don’t have words to describe it but it feels amazing. We lost a few wickets in the middle but needed rebuilding at that point. When Ish (Sodhi) came in, we needed a partnership there and that steadied it up a bit.”
Twitterati go crazy as Michael Bracewell helps New Zealand win their 7th consecutive match in the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League

What a knock by Michael Bracewell – 127* (82) with 10 fours and 7 sixes while chasing 301 against Ireland. New Zealand were 120/5 when he came, soon 217/8, but he kept going from one end. Superb win for NZ after being nowhere some time back. pic.twitter.com/91aJb1C6ty

First time in ODI history a team has successfully chased 20 runs target in the 50th over. New Zealand needed 20 off last 6 balls to win against Ireland and they do it with a ball remaining. Terrific hitting from Michael Bracewell who hit 4 4 6 4 6 in the last over. #IrevNZ
