Former Chennai Super Kings opener Murali Vijay made his return to the cricket field in this year’s Tamil Nadu Premier League tournament. Vijay is a part of the Ruby Trichy Warriors team. Last night, in the match against the iDream Tiruppur Tamizhans, the former Chennai Super Kings opener scored 34 runs off just 16 balls at a strike rate of 212.
Vijay did not play any matches in cricket after IPL 2020. His last appearance before TNPL 2022 was for Chennai Super Kings in a league stage match against Delhi Capitals. The right-handed batter scored 10 runs off 15 balls in that game, hitting one four.
Earlier this month, Murali Vijay announced his return to cricket. He played his first game of TNPL 2022 against the Dindigul Dragons. However, the former Chennai Super Kings star could not impress much. He scored only eight runs off 13 deliveries at a strike rate of 61.54.
Last night against iDream Tiruppur Tamizhans, Murali Vijay was in full flow as he scored 34 runs off 16 balls. Opening the innings with Amith Sathvik VP, Vijay added 57 runs for the first wicket in 5.3 overs. He turned back the clock and reminded the fans of his 2011 form for Chennai Super Kings as he smacked six fours and a six in the space of 15 deliveries.
M Mohammed dismissed him caught out on the 16th ball of his innings. Had he continued to bat the way he did, he could have scored a century in TNPL 2022 last night. Unfortunately, Vijay’s knock went in vain. Despite his solid start, Ruby Trichy Warriors could score only 157 runs in their 20 overs. iDream Tiruppur Tamizhans scored 158/6 in 18.5 overs and won the game by four wickets.

Some glorious shots to take 4-4-6-4 off Balls 1.3-1.6. Ruby Trichy Warriors look even stronger this year.
Murali Vijay back and now starting to hit on the up. So chance possible but can also run away with a nice fifty here.

Murali Vijay IS a vibe. That's it. That's the tweet.

Back after 2 years, he owned the field like it's his world & no one else is in it. From buzzing for Pathala pathala, Nayagam meendum varaan (literally when he came out to bat), to cheerleading the crowd, to causing a dead ball, he was the VIBE.

After a rusty show in his first outing, Vijay rolled back time last night against Tiruppur with his trademark flick off the hands with a firm front-foot plant, walk-down loft over mid-off, and hitting through the line over covers – all in one over.

Although Trichy lost in the end, Monday was all about how vintage Vijay was on display during his breezy 16-ball 34.
