Avesh Khan has been one of the top performers in the bowling department over the last two IPL seasons. Last year, the right-arm pace bowler played exceptionally well for the Delhi Capitals and played an important role in the team’s journey to the playoffs. This year, the Lucknow Super Giants signed him for a massive price, and Avesh proved why he is worth the money.
Playing against the Sunrisers Hyderabad earlier today, Avesh Khan took a four-wicket haul and helped the Lucknow Super Giants record their second consecutive victory in the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League. Khan dismissed both openers of the Sunrisers Hyderabad team – Kane Williamson and Abhishek Sharma.
Next, he came in to bowl the 18th over of the second innings and picked up the crucial wickets of the well-set Nicholas Pooran and the debutant Abdul Samad off successive deliveries. His double strike helped the Lucknow Super Giants regain the momentum in the match and pull off a 12-run victory. Khan was adjudged the Man of the Match for his spell.
Commenting after his team’s second consecutive loss in IPL 2022, Kane Williamson told the host broadcasters:
“I suppose if we look at the performance, it was a lot better than the previous game. We were a lot better with the ball. We were in a pretty strong position. We were just one partnership away from breaking the game. Rahul and Hooda had an excellent partnership. To get to 170 from where they were was a good effort.”

What a spell bowled by Avesh Khan. His Bowling figure (4-0-24-4) against SRH in this match. He is now second highest Wickettaker in this IPL. Outstanding Avesh Khan. pic.twitter.com/aKirJv9O6X

Today @klrahul11 captaincy was very impressive. He was ‘captaining’ also while batting as he had to take the team to a good total. #Aveshkhan and #Krunal also responded well and bowling changes were spot on. #SRHvsLSG #LSGvSRH pic.twitter.com/xc4C7jCuzb

Avesh Khan's spell shows why he is one of India's most valuable pace bowling assets right now. It was evident even last season, yet Delhi Capitals let him slip away from their hands. #SRHvLSG
